Grant from US Department of Education ($914,000) to support the teaching of US history using primary sources of local origin. Direct partnership with K-12 schools in Everett, Medford, Revere, Somerville, and Winthrop and affiliate historical institutions as well as with faculty from Tufts, Brandeis, and MIT, and partner organizations such as Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound and the Shore Educational Collaborative (Chelsea, MA). Coordinate with external evaluator to develop and implement formative and summative assessment plans. Plan and co-facilitate a series of professional development workshops for 25 teachers per year. Creator and series editor of online video-based teaching cases (http://ase.tufts.edu/local/library.htm) of teachers practicing "doing history" methodology. Co-author of "doing history" methodology.
